For this family vacation home in Old Town Niagara-on-the-Lake, our clients wanted to preserve the character of the historic property while making it more functional, comfortable and personal. We approached the renovation with a restoration mindset, reviving original wood floors and introducing architectural details that feel as though they have always belonged.

To make the home work better for modern family life, we designed a rear addition with a mudroom, laundry, powder room and home gym. In the kitchen, traditional details and natural materials are balanced with a more playful approach. Soft blue cabinetry and a curved island bring personality while still feeling at home within the original architecture.

Each of the four bathrooms was thoughtfully designed to balance everyday function with its own sense of character, using colour, pattern and considered details to make each space feel distinct.

The result is a highly functional family vacation home that respects its history while feeling fresh, playful and perfectly suited to the way our clients live today.
