Light Filled Living

After moving from a much larger home on Canada's East Coast, our clients wanted their Port Dalhousie home to feel warm and sophisticated while making better use of a smaller footprint. As avid art collectors, they also needed an interior that would complement their collection without competing with it.

We reimagined the main floor to create a more open, functional layout, incorporating generous storage, integrated kitchen appliances and multi-purpose spaces. A bulky staircase railing was redesigned to create a lighter architectural presence. Rich custom cabinetry and hardware help define the dining area within the open space.

Rather than replacing the original hardwood floors, we balanced their cooler undertones with warm woods, textiles and finishes. A whimsical fish patterned wallpaper adds an unexpected dose of personality and a playful connection to the home's views of the water.

The result is a warm, collected home that makes thoughtful use of every square foot while providing a beautiful backdrop for our clients' art, personality and the pieces they brought with them.
